#OpenGov – Practice is messy
June 19, 2015
Practice makes perfect? Perhaps. But first it makes an unholy mess.
A lesson for governments wanting to “go digital”?
Practice disruption – often.
Practice disruption even though you work in a fish bowl – knowing full well how easy it is for others to have an opinion when they have no responsibility – or accountability. Do it anyways.
Providing an environment where it is safe to practice, fail, learn, and then innovate won’t be easy but necessary if governments want enable the transition to the digital age. The test of true leadership will to allow this despite the critics.
This is one of a series post in preparation for my participation on a panel called “Let’s Get Digital” at a smart cities conference in Rome.
